Understanding Pet Problems

About a year after I purchased my dog, I realized that he was really struggling with his health. He just wasn't his lively self, and I was concerned that he was slowly dying. I decided to take him to a veterinarian to have his condition diagnosed, and we were able to learn a lot about his health. Within a few short months, he was on the road to recovery, and I was really grateful that I had done the work to make things better. This blog is all about understanding pet problems and knowing when to seek professional veterinary help.

How To Take Care Of A Ragdoll Cat

by Ann Nelson

If you have decided that the perfect pet for you is a ragdoll kitten then you have made a good choice. Ragdoll kittens are cute and will keep you entertained. However, even though they have all these wonderful traits they do require some special care. Take a look at these tips for keeping your ragdoll kitten safe and helping them feel at home.

Consider the Size of the Cat

Ragdoll kittens do grow a lot bigger than regular cats. You need to get everything in a bigger size when you have a ragdoll. You are going to need a bigger litterbox, and bear in mind that litterboxes that are covered will not work for your ragdoll cat. If you are thinking about buying toys that have cubby holes, these will probably not fit your ragdoll that well.

You Will Need to Groom Your Ragdoll Cat

Ragdoll kittens will need to be groomed on a regular basis. This is to prevent them from getting hairballs and also to keep furry messes out of your home. Grooming is usually not hard, and it can become an enjoyable task where you get to spend time with your cat. When you get your ragdoll kitten, start grooming them immediately. This will get them used to grooming early.

Ragdolls and Other Pets

Ragdolls are, by nature, very friendly and will get along well with other pets that are equally tempered. If you have another pet and you notice a tendency towards aggression, then it is best not to let that pet interact with your ragdoll cat too much. Your ragdoll cat cannot handle that kind of stress, and they do not defend themselves very well when attacked.

Keep Your Ragdoll Cat Indoors

As mentioned previously, ragdolls are not very good at defending themselves. This means they are not good outdoor cats. Even if something negative is happening they will rarely put up a fuss. If an animal outside or even a person were to attack the cat, it could get badly hurt due to its unassuming nature. If you do take your ragdoll kitten outside, you should ensure that they are supervised.

The bottom line is that ragdolls are great pets to have around, but they do require a lot more special care than a regular cat. If you are willing to provide this, then you will have no problem getting your ragdoll to comfortably fit into your lifestyle and family.
