Understanding Pet Problems

About a year after I purchased my dog, I realized that he was really struggling with his health. He just wasn't his lively self, and I was concerned that he was slowly dying. I decided to take him to a veterinarian to have his condition diagnosed, and we were able to learn a lot about his health. Within a few short months, he was on the road to recovery, and I was really grateful that I had done the work to make things better. This blog is all about understanding pet problems and knowing when to seek professional veterinary help.

How You Know If A Maine Coon Is Right For You

by Ann Nelson

If you want to get a kitten, then you might want to bring home a Maine Coon. A Maine Coon is a large breed domestic cat that's a descendant of both the Norwegian Forest cat and a domestic breed. By reading the information below and answering the following questions, you can better determine if this breed would be a good fit for your family.

Do you like big cats?

Some people prefer tiny cats, while other people like larger-sized cats. If you tend to like bigger cats, then the Maine Coon may be a great choice. This breed tends to grow to be large and many of them have very long and fluffy coats, which helps to make them appear even bigger than they already are. When it comes to domestic breeds of cats, the Maine Coon is considered to be one of the largest.

Do you like cats that are very friendly?

There are some people who prefer to own a cat that shows its loyalty to them and is more stand-offish with other people. Then, there are those who like very friendly cats that will more likely welcome visitors at the door than hide under the bed when they arrive as some shy cats will. The Maine Coon is a very sociable cat that likes people in general.

Are you looking for a very loving cat?

Some people like an independent cat that seems to be happy going about its day with minimal interaction from them. Then, there are many people who like a cat that wants to snuggle and be around them most of the time.  Maine Coons are the types of cats that will usually follow you around the house as you go about your business and spend a lot of time cuddling on your lap throughout the day. They also often like to share the bed at night, which is great if you don't mind giving up some of your bed space.

Do you like cats that are highly intelligent?

Cats are intelligent creatures in general. However, if you like the idea of having a highly intelligent cat, then the Maine Coon has this to offer as well. Not only are they the kind of cat that you can teach tricks to, but they are also known to pick up on things like human emotions as well. You can have a great time teaching your Maine Coon different tricks, taking them on the leash for walks, and even having fun swimming in the pool with them because they usually even like water!
